Games: can you roll a ball with accuracy and adjust your tactics?

      Lesson details

      Learning outcome

I can roll a ball at a target and adjust my tactics based on different scenarios.

      Key learning points

      1. Move: a smooth pendulum swing and low body position improves accuracy.
      2. Think: adjusting your swing will modify power and angle to control distance and accuracy.
      3. Feel: satisfaction comes from being able to predict and achieve consistent results.
      4. Connect: challenging yourself or others to a repeat performance raises levels of competition.

      Keywords

      • Technique - the method we use to perform a task

      • Pendlum - swinging your arms straight back and forward

      • Strategies - plans for achieving success

      Common misconception

You can roll the ball from any height.

It is more accurate to roll the ball from a lower position which is achievied by bending your knees.

      Equipment

An object to throw - which could be a ball or rolled up socks; 6 targets - which could be toys or empty bottles/cans; pen and paper to write score; optional own equipment to make your own target game.
