Vocabulary and transcripts for this lessons

      Key learning points

      1. To conjugate reflexive verbs, place the pronouns 'me', 'te', 'se', 'nos', 'os' or 'se' before the conjugated verb.
      2. Indirect object pronouns precede conjugated verbs in 1-verb structures, e.g. 'me hablan todos los días'.
      3. Indirect object pronouns can precede the conjugated verb or follow the infinitive/gerund in 2-verb structures.

      Keywords

      • Reflexive - describes an action where the subject and object of the verb are the same

      • Pronoun - word that takes the place of a noun, like ‘it’, ‘you’, ‘she’

      Common misconception

The only meaning of 'por' is 'for'.

'Por' can mean several things in Spanish. For example, in addition to 'for', it can also mean 'by' and 'in' in certain contexts.

      Teacher tip

Learning Cycle 1 includes Higher-tier vocabulary. Sentences 5-6 in Task B1 contain Higher-tier grammar. You can encourage students to adapt the family members included in the grid for Task C1 to suit their own family contexts.
