Description

This unit helps pupils respect people with disabilities. Pupils explore disability concepts, experiences in modern Britain, the Equality Act 2010 and the Paralympics, developing practical skills to promote inclusive attitudes in their school and wider community.

This unit builds on prior learning about respect and kindness by focusing specifically on disability, a crucial protected characteristic under the Equality Act 2010. Positioned at the start of secondary school, it deepens pupils' understanding of inclusivity and discrimination, preparing them for future RSHE discussions about equality, diversity and respectful relationships.
