Description

This unit explores power dynamics, consent and safety in relationships. Pupils learn about consent in intimate relationships, recognise exploitation and grooming, understand what constitutes sexual harassment, and know how to seek help and report concerns.

As Year 9 pupils form increasingly independent romantic and social relationships, they need a sophisticated understanding of consent, power dynamics and exploitation to protect themselves and others. This unit provides essential safeguarding knowledge about sexual harassment, grooming and exploitative behaviours, empowering pupils to recognise warning signs and understand their rights. At this developmental stage, clear information about consent laws, boundaries, and reporting mechanisms enables pupils to establish safe and respectful relationships and seek help confidently.
