Description

This unit provides essential information about menstrual health and wellbeing. Pupils learn what menstruation is, how to manage periods, understand the emotional changes that can occur, and know when to seek professional support.

As Year 7 pupils experience or approach puberty, they need accurate, appropriate information about menstruation to reduce anxiety and dispel myths. This unit provides essential knowledge about menstrual health, practical management strategies, and emotional wellbeing during periods. Positioned early in Key Stage 3, it ensures all pupils understand this natural process, can manage it confidently and hygienically, and know when to seek professional support, promoting positive attitudes towards menstrual health.

  1. Menstrual health
  2. Managing menstruation
  3. Menstruation and my emotions

  • Pupils should be familiar from previous units with talking about feelings and emotions, and understand that seeking help from healthcare professionals is important when needed.
