Description

This unit explores safe sexual practices, consent, contraception and sexual health. Pupils learn about healthy intimate relationships, contraceptive options including condoms, how to reduce STI risks, HIV prevention, and how to access sexual health services.

As pupils approach the age of sexual consent and become closer to the age where they might develop intimate relationships, they require accurate information about safe sex, contraception and sexual health. This unit provides essential knowledge about preventing STIs and unintended pregnancies, understanding consent in sexual contexts, and accessing confidential healthcare services. At this stage, evidence-based sex education helps to support pupils make informed, responsible decisions about their sexual health and establish respectful intimate relationships.
