Description

This unit addresses online bullying, exploring why it happens, its impact on victims and communities, and effective response strategies. Pupils learn to identify harmful online behaviours, understand their responsibilities as bystanders, and develop practical skills for maintaining safety.

As Year 8 pupils engage more independently with online spaces, they face increased risks of encountering or experiencing cyberbullying. This unit provides essential knowledge about online bullying dynamics, including why people behave differently online and how conflicts escalate digitally. At this developmental stage, pupils need practical strategies to protect themselves, support peers, and respond effectively to online threats, ensuring they can navigate digital spaces safely and maintain their wellbeing and positive online communities.
