I can add and remove text using a keyboard.

Key learning points

  1. A keyboard can type letters, numbers, spaces and new lines.
  2. The cursor controls where the keyboard adds or removes text.
  3. Text can be removed using the backspace key.

Keywords

  • Cursor - in a word processor, the blinking line where text will appear

  • Spacebar - the key that makes a space in between words

  • Enter - the key that starts a new line

  • Backspace - the key that removes the last letter or space

Common misconception

Backspace removes a whole sentence.

Backspace removes one character at a time so that minormistakes can be corrected quickly.
