This unit is situated to allow pupils to study Buddhism as the second religion after studying Christianity. It is placed here so that pupils may again begin with key concepts and stories in Buddhism which will then enable them to understand practices in a deeper and securer way.

Buddhism: Beliefs and teachings
In this unit pupils will examine key beliefs in Buddhism. They will examine key concepts such as dhamma and the idea of the human condition. They will gain an understanding of Buddhist ideas about suffering and the way to end it. They will also examine the story of Gautama Buddha.
