15 June 2026Moving beyond the classroom: Oak’s new remote PE resources

Louise Hacking
PE Subject Lead
At Oak, we see physical education as much more than just physical activity. It should be meaningful, enjoyable and inclusive, whether pupils are learning at school or remotely. Our goal is for every child to grow not only physically, but also cognitively, socially and emotionally through high-quality PE.
In partnership with experts PE Scholar and Complete PE, we’ve created a free, flexible PE curriculum for primary and secondary and a comprehensive set of teaching resources to bring this vision to life. We’re now building on this with our new remote learning offer, designed to keep pupils active, motivated and engaged wherever they are learning.
These remote learning lessons can help schools maintain continuity of PE beyond the classroom. We have carefully designed every resource to engage the widest possible range of pupils. Activities require minimal space and equipment, making them accessible to children in a variety of remote learning environments while still supporting meaningful participation, skill development and enjoyment of physical activity.
They may be used to support pupils learning from hospital or other healthcare settings, those temporarily unable to attend school, or pupils accessing alternative provision. Schools may also use them for cover lessons, blended learning, enrichment activities, intervention programmes or independent practice, ensuring all pupils can continue to access high-quality PE.

What’s included in each lesson?
Each remote learning lesson is carefully structured to support both pupils and teachers. Lessons include a clear learning objective, an equipment list and a teacher-led video that teachers can assign to pupils to use, to guide them through each activity. Starter and exit quiz questions help to reinforce learning, while regular checks for understanding are embedded throughout.

All the units and lessons you can see are available for pupils in their own dedicated area. It only takes seconds to select and send the resources to your pupil to complete outside of the classroom. When a pupil completes a lesson, you’ll be able to see:
- how much of the lesson video was watched
- quiz scores including breakdown by question and the overall score.
Crucially, these lessons are practical and designed to get children moving - even when learning remotely. By combining physical activity with opportunities for reflection, creative thinking and skill development, we aim to ensure that PE remains a rich, engaging and inclusive experience for every pupil, wherever learning takes place.
Inspiring a positive relationship with physical activity
Our ambition is that every pupil finds enjoyment in movement, feels included and builds confidence in their abilities. With a broad, balanced and engaging curriculum – alongside clear guidance and accessible resources – pupils can take part in meaningful PE wherever they are learning.
These remote learning lessons are designed to support independence while still providing structure and clarity. With step-by-step guidance, engaging activities and opportunities to reflect, pupils can develop skills, stay active and build positive habits beyond the classroom.
