Description

This unit teaches pupils how to manage a wider range of emotions such as feeling aspirational, embarrassed, anxious, worried and appreciative. Pupils explore challenges they face, understand that all emotions are important and develop strategies for managing difficult emotions effectively.

By Year 5, pupils have developed their emotions toolkit through previous years. In this unit, pupils explore more complex emotions such as aspirational, embarrassed, anxious, worried and appreciative. This is timely as pupils face increasing academic and social challenges. By learning these concepts now, pupils enhance their emotional vocabulary, understand that all emotions serve important purposes, develop advanced strategies for managing difficult emotions and build resilience when facing challenges.
