Description

This unit addresses the challenges and rewards of maintaining a healthy lifestyle, promoting balanced nutrition and physical activity. Pupils learn to plan a healthy week, understand health differences, navigate pressures about appearance and develop positive body image and self-respect.

In Year 5, pupils are making more independent choices. Building on previous knowledge of nutrition and physical activity, this unit addresses realistic challenges of maintaining a healthy lifestyle while developing a positive body image. This is timely as pupils navigate physical changes and social pressures. By learning these concepts now, pupils develop strategies to make balanced health choices, resist unhealthy pressures and foster self-respect.
