Description

This unit covers understanding what makes families healthy and safe, developing skills to be a supportive family member, recognising when family relationships feel unhappy or unsafe and knowing how to ask for help from trusted adults both within and outside the family.

At Year 3, pupils are deepening their understanding of family dynamics and responsibilities. Building on their learning from Key Stage 1, this unit extends to how they can contribute positively to family life while recognising when families need support. This is timely as pupils develop greater awareness of family wellbeing and seek help when needed. By exploring these concepts now, pupils develop responsibility and cooperation within families, alongside crucial understanding that all families sometimes need support and that help is always available.

  1. Healthy and safe families
  2. Being a good family member
