Description

This unit helps pupils understand the importance of equality and diversity by exploring the Equality Act, stereotypes and their impact. Pupils will learn about prejudice and discrimination in Britain, and how the law protects people from unfair treatment.

At Year 4, pupils are developing a stronger understanding of social issues and fairness. This unit builds on their Year 3 British values learning by deepening their understanding of equality and diversity. It introduces how the law protects people from discrimination and prepares pupils to recognise and challenge stereotypes and prejudice. This is particularly timely as pupils encounter diverse perspectives and may witness instances of discrimination.
