Description

This unit focuses on how pupils experience, name, and manage a wider range of feelings such as excitement, frustration, worry, and sadness. Pupils build on their emotions toolkit, adding new strategies for managing their feelings.

This unit builds on the emotions unit in Year 1. Pupils continue to develop their understanding of different emotions, learning how to name, scale and manage feelings such as excitement, frustration and sadness. Pupils add more strategies to their managing emotions toolkit, an idea developed throughout the primary curriculum. In Year 2, pupils experience greater social complexity and independence, making it timely to expand their emotional vocabulary and coping strategies, including understanding change.
