  • Online safety

Description

This unit teaches pupils how to identify false information online, understand why people might share untrue things, recognise fake content, develop safe web searching skills and follow rules for staying safe online. Pupils learn to think critically about what they read, listen to or see online.

At Year 2, pupils might be increasing their interactions with digital content and may be beginning to search for information independently. This unit builds on their Year 1 online safety learning and extends it to critical thinking about online content. It is timely as it teaches pupils to question what they see online, recognise that not everything is true and understand that people sometimes share false information. By exploring these concepts now, pupils develop essential digital literacy skills and healthy scepticism, crucial for navigating the online world responsibly and safely.
