  • Online safety

Description

This unit explores choosing appropriate online activities, understanding who to trust online, protecting personal information, recognising online risks, including bullying and scams, managing screen time for wellbeing and being responsible digital citizens who know how to report concerns.

At Year 3, many pupils are becoming more active online users. Building on their Year 1 and Year 2 learning about digital safety, this unit extends understanding to more complex online risks, including scams, peer pressure and managing wellbeing. This is timely as pupils develop critical evaluation skills for online content and relationships. By learning these concepts now, pupils develop enhanced digital literacy and safety skills, including understanding the permanence of online content, recognising manipulation and knowing when to seek help, essential for protecting themselves online.
