Description

This unit teaches pupils about recognising and avoiding dangers in the home and outside, sun safety, road safety and how to keep themselves safe in different environments with adult guidance.

In Year 1, pupils are exploring more independently, making it crucial to teach them about safety. This unit helps pupils recognise and avoid common dangers such as hazardous objects, busy roads and sun exposure. Pupils learn practical safety skills including road safety rules, sun protection and identifying home dangers like hot surfaces and sharp objects. By learning these concepts now, pupils develop foundational understanding of risk and safety, supporting them to make safer choices and seek adult help.
