Description

In this unit, pupils learn about emotions such as feeling optimistic, apprehensive, stressed or proud. Pupils build on their emotions toolkit from previous years, developing strategies for handling transitions, understanding mental health and celebrating their unique identity and strengths.

At Year 6, pupils may experience a range of emotions, including optimism, apprehension, stress, and pride, as they prepare for the transition to secondary school. Building on their emotions toolkit from previous years, this unit extends to managing emotions during periods of change. This is timely as pupils face major life transitions and need advanced emotional regulation strategies. By learning these concepts now, pupils develop skills to handle transition, understand mental health, celebrate their identity and build resilience.

  1. Our emotional toolkit: handling transition
  2. We all have mental health
