Description

This unit is a thematic approach drawing upon personal experiences to consolidate and deepen their knowledge and understanding of Action-Space-Dynamics-Relationships to create, develop and analyse ideas, motifs and dances. They will use similarities and differences to form connections and contrast.

Throughout KS1 and 2, pupils have had the opportunity to choreograph dance sequences in character, demonstrating musicality, emotion and creativity, aligned to multiple stimuli. This unit will take the next step into developing pupils' knowledge and application of specific dance steps and challenge pupils to focus on the aesthetics of their performance as opposed to characterisation. Pupils will be required to utilise all of their knowledge and understanding around choreography, to create and perform complex dance sequences using specific dance steps with accurate timings.
