Description

This unit will explore core techniques and use knowledge to become more technically proficient at sprinting, jogging and a range of both jumping and throwing events. Pupils will learn how the body responds to different types of exercise, how to be self-motivated and how to officiate fairly.

Pupils will already have experienced a range of athletics events and have some awareness of the differences between sprinting fast and pacing yourself for running longer distances. They will have experimented with jumping for height, jumping for distance and ways to throw different implements such as tennis balls, quoits and foam/ vortex javelins. Later in athletics they will train and refine skills further whilst also learning to operate as a mini-team through a sport education season.
