Description

This unit develops understanding of how goal setting and SMART targets can be used effectively to improve performance as well as unpicking the different types of guidance and feedback that help us learn sporting skills.

Pupils will already know what skillful performance looks like and ways to improve physiological performance by applying principles and methods of training but this unit extends basic awareness of psychological factors that can also have a huge impact on motivation to train, progress, and end results. Later in sport psychology pupils will learn how mental preparation can aid performance further.

  1. Goal setting and the SMART principle
  2. Types of guidance
