Description

This unit explores how to measure success beyond the outcomes of competition, how to balance competition, and how to ensure games are inclusive, respectful, supportive and engaging for all. Pupils will develop their teamship skills through improved communication, empathy and awareness of others.

Pupils will already have developed their foundational movement skills and ability to apply tactics to overcome opponents in a variety of invasion games. Being able to work with others in a respectful, kind and compassionate way is an important skill and forms the focus of this unit through a variety of contexts that help raise awareness. Later pupils will be expected to apply these skills in a broad range of games and other activities.

  1. Redefining success
  2. Balanced competition
  3. Create and lead a competition
  4. Supporting others to be their best
  5. How to manage competition, in victory or defeat
