6 lessons

Threads

  • Move: application of tactics, strategies and compositional ideas
  • Think: decision making, problem solving and creative thinking

Description

This unit challenges pupils to problem solve and make good decisions under pressure in T1 rugby games and scenarios. Pupils will apply more advanced tactics and strategies whilst securing their understanding of the nuances in the laws of the game.

Pupils will already have developed a variety of skills, tactics and strategies from various games with the ball in hand, at feet and in rugby and other invasion game situations (such as Kabaddi), but this unit requires pupils to learn how to problem solve in a different version of the game. Later in invasion games they will apply more advanced tactics and strategies to other new games.

  1. Running with the ball, catching and evading in T1 rugby
  2. Ripping the ball and passing backwards
  3. Forming a tackle triangle and getting onside in defence
  4. T1 rugby restarts with lineouts and scrums
  5. Kicks to restart and grubber kicks
  6. T1 rugby tournament
