Description

This unit unpicks the many factors to be considered to prevent injury in sport. It focussess on the effective delivery of both warm up and cool down components of training.

Pupils will build on basic understanding of injury and injury prevention gained through key stage 3 and their involvement in sport and physical activity. From the earlier physical training units they will understand which components of fitness are most important for different sports. They will appreciate the principles and methods of training that are most beneficial for different individuals. Later in physical training they will consider performance enhancing drugs and why some athletes are tempted to use them as well as gaining an appreciation of the negative side effects of specific drugs.
