  • Think: knowledge of healthy, active living

Description

This unit will examine how much energy is needed to function and the additional requirements of a balanced diet, good hydration and potential tweaks to food consumption to allow for optimal sporting performance and energy balance.

Pupils will already know about the relationship between exercise and diet on weight loss or gain. This unit deepens this understanding with a specific focus on nutrition and the importance of avoiding malnutrition. This final unit draws together a lot of what pupils have learnt about body systems, physical training, sporting performance and more general health and well-being to promote active lifestyle choices or post-16 study to learn more.

  1. Energy use
  2. Components of a balanced diet
