Description

This unit will build on fundamental skills and apply tactics to overcome opponents through netball. Development of basic passing, receiving, footwork, dodging, shooting, and defending skills with positivity in small sided games. Pupils will learn the rules of netball and names of major bones.

Pupils will already have explored principles of keeping possession of a ball either in hand or at feet in ‘donor’ sports and scenarios (core tasks). Pupils will now apply that learning to pass accurately and move off the ball to create space and options to outwit others in netball. They will improve their quality of movement to avoid breaking the footwork rule and also refine skills to accurately replicate the shooting technique via reciprocal learning. Later in invasion games they will experience basketball.

  2. Outwitting opponents and ball handling under pressure
  3. Working cooperatively to learn to shoot with precision and understanding
  4. Positional awareness to defend
  5. Transition from defence to attack
  6. Playing and officiating your own small sided games fairly
