Description

This unit will develop pupils’ understanding of the principles of training through a running programme that stretches them as an individual but also their contribution to a team. Their cardiovascular endurance will improve whilst taking responsibility for their own training.

Pupils will already have designed their own training programme to work on aspects of physical fitness that matter to them. This unit challenges them to work together towards common goals of improved cardiovascular endurance and the power of taking responsibility for following a prescribed programme based on current fitness levels. Later in health and wellbeing pupils will explore approaches to holistic wellbeing to include yoga, pilates and mindfulness; and exercises associated with martial arts and self-defence.

  1. Say goodbye to the sofa
  2. Injury prevention and the benefits of high intensity exercise
  3. The dangers of overtraining
  4. Adjusting your programme
  5. Hitting your targets
  6. The race of your life
