Description

This unit develops understanding of what skillful movement looks like and how it can be classified on different continua. It builds on the basic understanding that psychological factors can affect sporting performance in the same way physiological factors influence it.

Pupils will already know that psychological factors connected with our brain can have an equally significant impact on performance as physiological factors relating to body systems that have been explored in previous units. This unit builds on that basic appreciation from key stage 3 PE and will ignite an interest in this growing area of sports science study. Later in sport psychology pupils will explore how to make best use of goal setting, guidance, feedback and mental preparation.

  1. Characteristics of skilful movement
  2. The difficulty and environmental continua
